Turning heads at Italian Car Day

31. May 2013 13:48 by SpellboundCars | 0 Comments

After three decades lying dormant, our very special Maserati 3500 GT Superleggera got its first outing to Italian Car Day at Brooklands, Weybridge on May 5. And although it wasn’t quite ready for the rigours of Test Hill, it drew quite a crowd at the Spellbound Cars exhibition space at the Shell Pagoda - the only one of its kind among hundreds of Italian beauties displayed at the Show.

One of only 1980 2 door coupés manufactured from 1957-1964, the 3500 GT was designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan and was Maserati’s first attempt at the Gran Turismo market.

The car had been prepared for road racing during the 1980s but never really got the chance to shine.  Instead, this work of art was moth-balled as part of a private collection in Northern Italy until we liberated it in late 2012 and shipped it back to Farnham.

Over the past few months, the car has been undergoing a process of careful re-commissioning and coaxing back to life by our highly experienced technical team.
